Safeguarding

A clear route to raise a concern.

If you are concerned about a child or adult at the club, contact the welfare team or use the independent reporting routes below. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Membership and other routine club questions have separate contact routes.

Raising a concern

How to raise a safeguarding concern.

  1. 01

    Record what happened

Write down what happened, when, where and who was present. Keep to facts and the words actually used.

  2. 02

    Report your concern

Contact a Welfare Officer or use an urgent external route. Do not investigate the concern yourself.

  3. 03

    Protect the information

Share information only with the people who need it to safeguard the athlete and handle the report.

  4. 04

    What happens next

The club will use Swim England guidance and Wavepower procedures for the next steps.

Everyday guidance

Photography, social media and complaints.

01

Photography

Follow consent arrangements, pool and event rules, and never publish identifying information that creates unnecessary risk.

02

Social media

Use respectful, age-appropriate communication and approved club channels. Never use private messaging to bypass safeguarding practice.

03

Ordinary complaints

Coaching, fees, selection or service concerns that are not welfare matters should use the club’s ordinary complaints route.
