Our club

A Fleetwood story since 1974.

Generations of athletes, players, coaches and volunteers have represented Fleetwood with pride. Their achievements continue to inspire the club today.

1974 onwards

From Fleetwood and District to the Mako family

The club was founded in 1974 as Fleetwood and District Amateur Swimming Club. By 1979, its athletes were enjoying their first successes at the National Age Group Championships.

Families, coaches and volunteers have carried that work through the decades: helping athletes develop, supporting competition and keeping aquatic sport part of Fleetwood life.

The next chapter

The same local roots. New opportunities.

Today, athletes can develop through the Development and Performance squads, while junior and adult players have a direct route into water polo. Coaches, families and volunteers continue to create a place to learn, train and represent Fleetwood together.

The club’s charitable purpose is to provide healthy recreation through swimming and water polo. Partnerships, fundraising and practical support help sustain training and create further opportunities for the people taking part today.
