Fleetwood Mako’s cap and goggles

Your training equipment

Our swimming training kit list includes goggles, a Mako’s club cap, short training fins, a kickboard, pull buoy, swimming snorkel and nose clip. A mesh bag keeps everything together. Swimmers with long hair must wear a Mako’s club cap.

Check with your coach which equipment is suitable for your squad, age and session before buying. New trial swimmers and water-polo players should ask what to bring to their first session; the regular swimming kit list is not a requirement to buy everything before a taster.

Buy well. Train well.

The right kit.
For your budget.

What each item does, with affordable choices and branded or premium alternatives. You do not need the most expensive option: fit, suitability and your coach’s advice come first.

Training snorkel & nose clips

A centre-mounted swimming snorkel helps you focus on technique without turning your head to breathe. Ask your coach about the fit. For nose clips, buy cheap plastic ones in a large Amazon multipack: children lose them easily, so keep spares in the kit bag. There is no need to pay for premium clips.

Paddles: speak to your coach first

Paddles come in several types, with different purposes. Technique paddles, freestyle-specific paddles and larger resistance paddles are not interchangeable. Ask your coach which type and size suit you before buying. We rate FINIS training kit: it is a premium choice, but equipment we like and recommend when it fits the task.

Before you order

For kickboards, pull buoys and combined pull-kicks, choose firm foam that holds its shape. If a listing does not make that clear, check with your coach before buying. Pack swimwear, a towel and a clearly labelled plastic water bottle too.

Retailers provide current prices, stock, sizes and delivery details. Some Decathlon links are sold by marketplace partners. Ask the club about current member equipment offers and any help choosing suitable kit.
