A huge well done to everyone who represented Fleetwood Mako’s at Dolphins Dash 2026 today!
There is so much to celebrate:
- 84 PERSONAL BESTS
- 28 MEDALS
- 6 GOLD
- 10 SILVER
- 12 BRONZE
And one of the best stats of the day — 27 of our 31 competing athletes achieved at least one PB. That’s an incredible 87% of the team!
But as always, today was about much more than medals and PBs.
For some of our Development Squad swimmers, this was one of their very first open meets. Others took on new strokes, new distances or new events for the first time, gaining valuable race experience and confidence along the way.
Every time an athlete gets on the blocks for something new, handles the nerves, listens to feedback and comes away with more experience than they started with — that’s progress.
Our more experienced athletes produced some brilliant racing too, with strong swims, PBs and medals across both the A and B categories.
A massive well done to our medal winners, but equally to every Mako who raced today. Whether you came away with a medal, a PB, a first official time, a new event under your belt or simply something learned for next time — there was plenty to be proud of.
And a HUGE thank you to today’s brilliant Mako support team.
- Matt & Phil – poolside coaching and supporting our athletes throughout the day
- Helen, Aimee, Tina & Faye – looking after our swimmers in the athlete holding area, keeping everyone organised, settled and where they needed to be
- John – representing Mako’s as part of the meet’s officiating team
These events simply couldn’t run without volunteers giving up their time, both looking after our own team and helping the wider competition run smoothly, so a massive thank you to all of you.
And finally, a big thank you to Clitheroe Dolphins for hosting a brilliant meet and making everyone feel so welcome. It was a fantastic event, really well run, and a great opportunity for swimmers of all levels to race, gain experience and enjoy the day.
84 PBs. 28 medals. Lots of firsts. Lots learned. One brilliant Mako team.
Well done everyone — GO MAKOS!
