Fleetwood Makos Celebrate Fantastic Result in Round 1
Fleetwood Makos swimmers delivered an outstanding performance at Round 1, securing a fantastic 2nd place finish in a closely contested gala.
Our swimmers produced some brilliant performances throughout the afternoon, with several athletes competing for the first time and others stepping up to swim in older age groups to support the team. It was also fantastic to see some of our newer swimmers taking first place finishes in their races.
The atmosphere poolside was full of energy, with teammates cheering each other on from start to finish. The day even had a memorable moment when one determined swimmer managed to lose a tooth mid-gala and still carried on smiling!
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated coaching and poolside support team – Les, Matt, Anna, Jack, Aimee, Polly and Tracey – for their guidance and encouragement.
We’d also like to thank the officials, volunteers and event organisers who work hard behind the scenes to make these competitions possible.
Finally, congratulations to all the teams who competed for a great afternoon of racing, and thank you to the parents and families who continue to support their swimmers and the club.
A brilliant start to the season for the Makos — we’re already looking forward to Round 2.
