Lanzarote Swim Camp 2026: Training, Teamwork and Sunshine-Fuelled Progress

Our first international Fleetwood Makos swim camp is done — and what a week it was.

We headed away with a simple goal: give our athletes the chance to train like a squad, live like a squad, and come home better for it. More pool time, more consistency, more quality work — but also the kind of team bonding you just can’t recreate in a normal training week.

Why we went

Swim camps are about creating the perfect environment to improve:

  • Focused training blocks without the usual day-to-day distractions

  • Squad routines (sleep, eat, train, recover, repeat!)

  • Confidence building through challenging sessions and shared effort

  • Team culture — athletes supporting athletes, every day

Highlights from the week

It’s hard to pick favourites, but a few moments stood out:

  • A fantastic attitude across the board — early starts included

  • Strong training sessions in the pool, with real consistency from the athletes

  • Great team spirit throughout the camp, from the first session to the last

  • Plenty of laughs alongside the hard work (the perfect Makos combo)

What the athletes got from it

The biggest win wasn’t just fitness — it was mindset. The athletes:

  • Learned how to handle repeated high-quality sessions

  • Built better habits around recovery and preparation

  • Grew in confidence as the week went on

  • Came home with memories (and inside jokes!) that will stick with them for a long time

Thank you

A camp like this doesn’t happen without a lot of support so a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who helped make this happen.

A huge thank you to Sports Abroad, our tour operator, for helping make the trip run smoothly and supporting us throughout and to AO.com for sponsoring our team kit.

We are so proud we are of every athlete who took part. Makos abroad… ✅ and we’re only just getting started. 💙🏊‍♂️
